The Making of a Copper Ceiling

It's funny how with home renovation one decision sets a whole cascade of other actions into place.

It usually starts with, "as long as we're..." followed by "demoing/replacing/taking out/ upgrading" then followed by the subject of which you are talking about.

The subject of this cascade, is the Parlor Level Powder Room.

It all started with me wanting a great view into the open Powder Room as I descended the stairs each day for my morning coffee. The door had to be aligned with the stairs and the tiny space — which is slightly larger than an airplane lavatory — would require some smart fixture choices.

When I began looking at tiny sinks, they all looked ridiculous — like mock, miniature versions of the real thing. Then I found a great round, hand pounded copper sink — which in turn lead to copper faucets, toilet paper holder, copper towel rings, a copper light fixture,  a copper soap dish, a copper mirror and wallpaper and a floor that would go with all the copper.

Then the question begged, "what about the ceiling?" Well it needed to be Copper — of course.  Read on to see how we did it.

Thanks to the talents of Chris Hanley and the folks at American Tin Ceilings, we were able to create a beautiful Copper Tin Ceiling that make this little tiny room an unforgettable jewel in this house. Look for the full reveal next week when the wallpapering is complete.
