I started this journey with a new pair
of work boots and a tetanus shot.
I love living in New York. My evolution from California-born country mouse to Brooklyn-based, city mouse was nearly complete. The only hitch was that my country mouse origins were yearning for some dirt that I could run my fingers through. For awhile I tried working in a community garden but it became clear that I need to have a patch of my own.
I'm a retired advertising refugee, and as I get older, the things that make me genuinely happy become more clear. Peonies, Roses, Lavender, Honeysuckle, blueberries off the bush, fresh cut lettuces and vine ripened tomatoes — these are a few of my favorite things.
On February 6, 2015, I traded the luxurious condo living at One Hanson Place, for the likes of life in a Brooklyn Brownstone. My new domain measures a mere 13' 8" wide and every inch is in need of serious restoration — which I am now doing, while living here. I liken living in the house during the renovation as a kind of "urban camping" — only not quite as much fun.
Follow me on my journey of mistakes and victories, periods of waiting for permits and numerous lessons learned.
I promise it will be an interesting ride.
