Let there be brick!

As you entered through the front doors, the left hand wall is a wonderful wall of used brick.

The previous owner had a constructed a custom built-in that spanned the entire length of the Parlor to the stairs. It was a really nice and well-built piece, so I felt bad about pulling it out, but my loss was a Criag's List gain.

Here's what it looked like after I removed the built-in.

and after...

and after...

I  had some work to do fixing a patch of brick. They had obviously applied poly around the clock that had hung on the wall. I had to use a little stain and I was able to match the color pretty close. Christopher came over and applied two coats of Poly for me and the end product looks pretty great. I will be installing a used barn wood shelf for my colletion of black and white photos for this wall. I also plan to put 6' x 6' of soapstone in the entry at the door and install a bench for boots and gloves.
