Let's See The Floors!

After closing on the house and before moving in, I wanted to refinish the floors on the top two floors of the house. There was some significant repair in the closets and where we were changing doorways.

We also managed to reclaim almost 12" when we took out the fireplace in the old dining room (now the Master Bedroom). That's quite a bit of space in a house that is only 13'8" wide – almost an entire chevron.

When the floor guys tried to tie into the electrical box to sand the floors — that's when we discovered we didn't really have 220. They went back to the shop to get some old 110 machines so that they could proceed with all the sanding that needed to be done.

After sanding, it was clear that there was some staining and that going natural with the oak was not going to be an option...

so we stained the floors Coffee Bean and then finished with a low gloss, satin poly.

Then Chris Hanley and his team quickly covered them with rose paper and masonite so that they were thoroughly protected on moving day and our subsequent construction.
